In April 2019 I attended Frontend Fest and wrote a post about my experience, but work was busy, life was crazy, and it never got published. Now a year later, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, I’ve enjoyed going back and reading about the excitement of flying to Chicago (what is air travel?), staying in a hotel (there are places outside my house?) and meeting new people (GASP!). Without further ado, here’s my Frontend Fest recap.

Rewind to May 2017. Summer was in full swing, and tech nerds from all around Houston were getting ready for the annual Houston Hackathon. During this fantastic event, hosted by Sketch City, participants get together to create maps, charts, apps and websites all with the purpose of improving the lives of our neighbor Houstonians.

The Situation

I needed to draw the user’s attention to a button after they’ve arrived on a page. If you’re thinking “I bet she’s gonna talk about animations”… YOU’RE RIGHT!

No wonder 2015 flew by so fast! We’re already two months into 2016 and I’m just now posting about last December’s adventures. By the time I’m ready to post about this month, it will probably be 2017!

It’s amazing how time flies; it seems like it was only yesterday I was boarding a plane for my first trip to GHC. Five years later, I’ve attended three times and helped 20 other people (including one speaker) get to GHC. It’s been quite a journey!
